Our meeting point is the aptly-named Palacio Acarate in Ezcaray. We stay at this palatial hotel for the night and they are kind enough to store our bikes and kit.

Obviously your arrival time will depend on how you have opted to travel but most people take one of several morning flights into Bilbao airport, then travel on via bus or hirecar.

The chances are you'll arrive in Ezcaray before lunchtime (in these parts lunchtime falls later than most of us will be accustomed to!)  

Your guide will be happy to sort out bikes for anyone who would like one for the afternoon. Ezcaray is a small town and easily explored on foot. By turns a ski resort (albeit a very small one) and a holiday destination in summer months.

Tonight's restaurant is exceptional and our host, Armando keeps a spectacular selection of surprisingly affordable wines.
